BUKIT GANTANG Who listens to Khairy anymore?

Khairy's call for a less radical PEMUDA falls on deaf ears

Aziz AS, Malaysiaaktif.com

Going by UMNO President Dato' Seri Najib Tun Razak and his deputy Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's speech at the 60th AGM of UMNO at the PWTC in Kuala Lumpur yesterday, the leadership wants UMNO's focus be realigned in the light of the new political environment.

This sentiment was similarly echoed by by UMNO Youth Chief Khairy Jamaluddin in his policy speech at the pemuda Assembly today.

However, the effect of Khairy's call for UMNO Youth to embrace the mantra of Malay leadership instead of Malay supremacy is questionable. He wants Pemuda to stop its radical stand and fall back a step behind that of the party's leadership.

Comments from Pemuda leaders carried rumblings about the youth wing needing to be radical and that they will not follow party leadership blindly.

Perhaps they need time for the idea to sink in, but we would think that given the strident voices of those outside UMNO, Pemuda's radicalism and intransigence are still needed.

Can UMNO's leadership convince the hot blooded young turks? This is about the reverse of trying to evoke awareness among the apolitical youths of Malaysia (all 4 million of them) to participate in the voting process.

Malaysiaktif tu siapa punya? Dulu ada juga defend-defend si KJ. Sekarang tidak lagi. Banyak-banyak posing dalam majalah fesyen. Hehehe ... tak lamalah tu.
